New issue of the quarterly Z první ruky

The winter edition of the SmVaK Ostrava’s quarterly, Z první ruky (At First Hand), has been published. The main topic is the route of drinking water from big water reservoirs in the Ostrava Area Water System through water networks into households in different parts of the region. Milan Koníř, Director of Water Networks in SmVaK Ostrava, explains in the interview the development and some technical parameters of the water system.

Martin Veselý, Technical Director, recalls in his editorial investments made by SmVaK Ostrava into water infrastructure. Other articles inform about the investment projects – those completed in 2016 and those prepared for 2017.

The journal offers practical advice to consumers on protection of their water meters from freezing temperatures and informs what the difference is, from the biological point of view, between raw water from water reservoirs or surface sources and water we drink at home from water taps.

There is an article that describes in detail changes in the EU subsidy policy for the next programme period and informs what the widely used term smart municipalities means now.

The journal also informs about new customer services that have been introduced by SmVaK and that are supported with a special software.

Another article describes necessary coordination between water experts and volunteer fire departments in fire drills and trainings when unreported/unskilled handling of water networks might result in many problems for those who live in the affected territory.
